The Long Island National

By jnbarreno - Posted on 05 May 2008

It started with a threat of rain but the tournament ended up with a beautiful afternoon sun. Anyway, I have an interesting foursome of Neil Pascual, Dr. Dalmy Francisco, and Nelson Perez.

This was the first tournament for Neil and Dalmy for the year 2008. Dalmy claimed that, it was a year ago that he played golf. Golfers as you know are like poker players, you do not know when they are telling the truth.

We have interesting actions in this group. In addition to the skins game and Nassau, we added the longest drive with side action with Neil Pascual.

In the end, Dalmy got all the rewards beat me outright without the six shots I gave him . Neil played an unbelievable round until he woke up later in the round and Nelson was not feeling well because Tonette was in the Philippines.

Dalmy has the full confidence in his game that he promised he will give me shots in the next game. Neil has to reinvent his swing so that he can beat me in the longest drive and Nelson needs a tender loving care from Tonnette.

We have a Club policy that we enforce that every member will be playing with different players in the course of the season. This will insure that we share different experiences with other players and we should make the most of it. The most memorable outing I had was when I played with Angela Libid who is a high handicapp player. She not only played her game, gave me the right count of the strokes and never slowed us down in playing our round. By the way, the person who is responsible for this task is Nelson Perez and we should all appreciate his efforts.

In every tournament, each and every group should share their experiences with the Club so that we can enjoy one another. Our Club had evolved from no action to action in every group. This experiences could be published in our website or write to Bong Alorro.

I would like to congratulate all the winners. As you know if this is your first win, you will be in my group the next tournament for validation. As chairman of the rules committee, we will learn from each other. I am looking forward in playing with the rest the group specially with the ladies.
