Ralph Mapili fires a net 70, wins Group A; Dennis Villanueva captures Group B

June 22, 2002 - Ralph Mapili tamed a very difficult course in Cherry Creek Golf Links by shooting a net 70 to win his first victory since joining the club last year. He carded 7 pars and 9 bogeys against a triple bogey at the most difficult hole, the 585-yard par 5 #4 and a double at #15. Cherry Creek is a par-73 course and home to the only par 6 hole in Long Island.

A stroke behind are new members Dr. Dalmy Francisco and Roger Ramos at net 71. LeaderBoard's number one player, Jay Escalona, is close behind for fourth place at net 72.

June 9th

Nelson Perez and Rolly Tupaz win respective divisions at the Mill Pond Golf Championship

June 9, 2002 - The long wait is over for Nelson Perez. He finally won a championship after a long drought without a win to his name. Perez fired a net 65 to capture Group B championship at Mill Pond Golf & CC, in Medford, NY (LI). He beat Jay Escalona and Gil Reyes who checked in with identical net 67.

May 6th

Dino Cerezo Leads by a Hair

Dino Cerezo grabs the overall lead in the LeaderBoard, after placing 2nd in Group A at Spring Lake, by a quarter of a point over William Gumpeng. His score of 75.0 catapulted him to first place with Gumpeng a very close 2nd with 74.75 points.

Gumpeng's two longest drive awards worth 10 points enabled him to stay close to the top of the LeaderBoard and did not allow his allergies bother him during his round.

Lewey Sanchez fires a net 61, wins Spring Lake

Lewey Sanchez fires a net 61, wins Spring Lake; Gil Reyes captures Group B

May 5, 2002 - Lewey Sanchez blasted away the field by winning Group A at the FilAm Spring Lake Invitational Golf Tournament in Spring Lake Golf & CC. He fired a net 61, 5 strokes clear of his nearest pursuer Dino Cerezo who carded at net 66. It was Sanchez's first victory since joining the club last year after an uneventful 35th finish in the LeaderBoard.

Chris Reyes Wins First Leg at Middle Island

Chris Reyes Wins First Leg at Middle Island; Bobby Bautista captures Group B

April 14, 2002 - Chris Reyes started the new golf season with a bang by winning Group A with a net 71 at the tough Oakwood-Spruce course in Middle Island Golf Club. With a slope of 131 and course rating of 71.8, it is certainly one of the most difficult courses in the club's calendar this year.
